Medical Office Assistant (MOA)

We are a busy family practice clinic in Courtenay, BC.

We are seeking candidates who are experienced, self-motivated, and energetic, organized, and have good communication and interpersonal skills.
One MOA position at ValleyCare Medical. Looking for 4-5 days/wk, with the potential for growth. These shifts are 8:00am-4:00pm weekdays, times may vary on occasion. You will work alongside a large team, you must be able to take direction well from co-workers.
DUTIES:
Maintain patient records in the electronic medical record (Profile) system
Answer inquiries by phone and in person in a helpful, respectful and efficient manner
Maintain provider schedules by booking appointments
Coordinate patient care throughout the clinic; arriving patients, escorting patients to exam rooms, prepare exam rooms for minor procedures as needed and turning over exam rooms
Perform and record results for various lab tests done at the clinic such as urinalysis tests and pregnancy tests
Clean instruments and have them ready for autoclaving
Handle sensitive medical information and follow regulations regarding confidentiality
Complete tasks requested by physicians for patient care (calls, messages, forms etc.)
SKILLS:
A passion for patient service and showing empathy to patients
Knowledge of clinic operations and processes is helpful
Medical and Clinical Terminology, not required but beneficial
Computer abilities
Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy
Ability to work alone often and in a team environment
Great communicator (verbal and in writing)
Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to handle patient concerns within the MOA scope
Self-motivated with exceptional organizational skills, ability to multitask
EDUCATION:
Experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a health care environment. Customer service experience also helpful.
