We Want to maintain a safe environment for you, our staff, and the physicians in the clinic. Therefore,

  • we have to continue to practise physical distancing, which will reduce the number of people we can have in our office at any one time.
  • when coming to the clinic for an appointment or other pre-arranged reason please be punctual.
  • we ask you to wear a mask (please bring your own) when you come for your appointment or other pre-arranged visit. Staff, nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician will also wear masks for all patient encounters.
  • as the front door remains locked, please knock and a receptionist will let you in. Please use hand sanitizer to clean your hands. A staff member will escort you to the exam room.
  • please have a seat on the chair in the exam room, or as directed by staff. Please avoid touching items.
  • at this point in time we will not be able to see patients with acute respiratory symptoms. In this case you might be referred to the centralized assessment centre located at the Comox Valley Hospital.
  • we have to clean our exam rooms frequently and thoroughly to ensure you are not at risk of catching COVID from your visit – this will reduce the number of people we can see in our office each day.
  • for the time being we can not offer phlebotomy (laboratory) services.

This is a dynamic process and we are reviewing our policies and protocols weekly. We ask for your understanding and patience and wish to assure you that we are striving to return to personal face to face care while keeping you and us safe. We ask you to be patient with our reception staff as we see a significant increase in telephone calls and inquiries.

The doctors and nurse practitioners at ValleyCare Medical Clinic, will continue to provide care to all our patients during this unique time.

We had to make changes to the way we see patients in order to keep us all safe from transmission of COVID-19. We have therefore transitioned to connecting with you primarily via telephone or video call. In most cases we can assess and treat you remotely, and if necessary prescribe medication or renew prescriptions.

You can book a telephone appointment with your doctor or nurse practitioner by phoning (250) 331-0500 Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (We’re closed for lunch 12:00 – 1:00 pm). After speaking on the phone, you and your doctor or nurse practitioner will determine the next steps (need for face-to-face visit or physical examination, ordering tests, faxing a prescription to your pharmacy, etc.). On weekends, please contact Washington Park Medical Clinic, our walk-in clinic in the Superstore building in Courtenay, Monday – Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, and Saturday – Sunday  9:00 am to 2:00 pm.  The telephone number is (250) 334-9241 and you will be able to speak to a doctor. It is important that your medical concerns are addressed adequately, especially if you have ongoing/chronic health conditions.
